Preferred room and roommate description
Hi! We are Zenna and Sparky, two frisky and feisty dogs, and we live with our Human, Karen. Zenna is a Border Collie/Shepherd and Sparky is a Taco Terrier (Google it!) We have 2 furnished rooms available - one that is for dual occupancy (Dog & well behaved Human) and one for well behaved Human Only. Our Human, Karen, is offering an AWESOME "All Inclusive" deal that includes nearly everything - rent, utilities, shared things...about the only things left to pay for are for your kibble and your Human's food and any other personal expenses you may have. . Your Human will only have one check to write each month and there won't be any mid-month surprises. Our Human Karen even supplies DOGGIE TREATS!!!! *drooling* :-) :-) :-)
This is a great place to live because the back yard is fenced with room to run and chase things. Zenna just "lives" to chase and fetch anything and she could do it all day long. Running and fetching balls and Frisbees is second only to chasing squirrels up the trees. Sparky usually stands close by to give little barks of encouragement but often gets distracted exploring areas behind shrubs, wood piles, or anything he shouldn't be anywhere near. And after a vigorous workout you can relax on the deck while your Human relaxes in the HOT TUB! Plus, there are THREE parks within walking distance to run, run, run and chase as many squirrels and Frisbees as possible.
We hope you will take a few minutes to read our ad. We are hopeful we will find a great Dog & Human team and a Dog-Loving but Unclaimed Human to share our awesome home. Could that be you??? PLEASE read our entire ad. It's long, yes, but the details are important! You will be glad you did because it is different from any other ad you've read!

HOUSE: The kitchen is well stocked with almost every appliance and gadget imaginable, Microwave, Dishwasher, Electric Flat-Top Stove, and door to the backyard. Off the kitchen is the Dining Area, Living Room with Fireplace and a couple of Aquariums, 2 Upstairs Bedrooms (I am in one), Bathroom, and a HEPA air cleaner. Downstairs is the quiet and more secluded Third Bedroom, a Pantry, Washer & Dryer, Furnace, two long Work Tables, and lots of Tools.
In the open space is a quiet kick-back area with a Futon, Chairs, Books, Magazines, Games, TV, DVD player, and Stereo, and a Desk with a Spare Computer. I also run a HEPA air cleaner, Dehumidifier, and Ozonator and have a HEPA vacuum cleaner. Through the basement back door is the Garage that has barn doors leading out to a Fenced Back Yard with Decks, Hot Tub, Lawn, and charcoal BBQ grills. If you enjoy gardening, there is a 23' x 11' vegetable Garden. Street Parking in front of the house. There hasn’t been any significant crime that I’m aware of in this neighborhood since I’ve lived here. There is a beautiful view of Mt. Rainer, the Cascades, Puget Sound, the Space Needle, and the Moon. OK, not all of that is true (see Sentence 11 Above). But there IS an awesome view of the Moon!
YOU: I’m looking for someone who is responsible and pays bills on time, is independent and drama-free, is neat and does their share of housework and chores, is honest, respectful of others' space and property, uses common courtesy, and who won’t use my home as home-base for parties or frequent overnighters. It’s pretty much basic common sense stuff. I want to have boarders who are about 28-55, give or take, mature and responsible, and want to live in a quiet, friendly but independent, drama-free, safe and clean house. I will respect your privacy and belongings and expect the same of you. I like to have a neat home. I was traumatized growing up by my anal-retentive mother so I’m about a 6-7 instead of her 12 on a 1-10 scale. HAHA!! We all have basic household chores to do that we will discuss when we talk. Smoking is outdoors ONLY. Oh that serious stuff is so boring. Please also have a sense of humor. And enjoy laughing. You can laugh with me or at me; just be kind!
ME & THE FUR-KIDS: I am a currently single 40-ish “young at heart with spunk” gal (due to no 2-legged kids!) To keep me young and happy are my 4-legged kids, Zenna and Sparky, who started this ad for me. They are THE coolest dogs and everyone who meets them falls in love. I'm told I'm a cool, friendly, moderate-liberal female and not as furry as the two above ;-). I’m not looking for a new best friend and I would like to coexist with someone who can respect my space. But I'm also open to the occasional shared meal, movie, conversation, etc. I’m not anti-social, but like everyone in the world, I like my own space and alone time. I tend to laugh - sometimes at inappropriate moments - and have been known to drop the big F-Bomb frequently and sometimes in inappropriate situations (librarians, elderly relatives, doctors, neighbors, and Customer Service Representatives (who sound suspiciously like recorded robots and swear they want nothing more in life than to help you at their earliest convenience) have been witness to these moments). I’m sarcastic at times, have a wicked sense of humor, and can laugh at myself, too.
After 12 years of study at 12 different schools of higher education, I finally narrowed my focus and at the age of 30 I graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Psychology to complement my other degrees in Marketing, Business Management, and Management & Supervision. After that I worked for 7 years in the field of law enforcement but am now "retired" on permanent medical disability (nothing contagious and you wouldn't know it to see me). Prior to that I worked for 10 years in marketing, then human/social services. I am a lifetime student and between my two careers I was a Foreign Exchange Student at the University of Hong Kong and traveled the world.
I am a night owlette but am quiet and don't disturb others. I ABHOR people who are smarmy, mean, bigots, stupid & ignorant, sleazy, discriminatory, non-communicative, irresponsible, liars & cheats. I love crushed ice and could eat lemons and Ruffles potato chips as a meal. Cookies and other sweets I can take or leave. I would rather be warm than cold. I love almost all types of music. I LOVE sunshine and tolerate the rain because I like how nice the air smells and how everything is green and clean after a good downpour. I LOVE thunder and lightning storms and wish we had more in Seattle. I can't stand mayonnaise, coffee, ketchup, egg whites, dark beer, lemons, peas, tomatoes, cooked carrots, celery, artificial foods, MSG, lemons, brussel sprouts, bean salads, and boiled vegetables. I like tea, booze, jicama, passion fruit, lemons, star fruit, pate, salads, pineapple, yogurt, egg yolks, lemons, anchovies, capers, escargot, tacos, seafood, goat cheese, greasy burgers, cheesecake, champagne, wine, and beer. Oh, and lemons. This summer I grew tomatoes and peppers in a parking strip garden between the street and sidewalk in front of my house. If you paid attention you will recall that I don't like tomatoes. But I do enjoy growing them and giving them away. I like to do things out of the ordinary that make people happy. I can't remember a time when I felt as much joy and pride and hope and patriotism as I did on January 20. We WILL survive!
Well Hell, I’m just perfect, of course ;-) I’m friendly and social but do enjoy my alone time. When I’m not feeling well or at the top of my game I stay to myself. I'm not one to walk around hunched over, dragging my feet, moaning and groaning, trying to elicit sympathy. That is SO not me because I don’t like the drama, attention, anyone feeling sorry for me, trying to fix me, etc. and I won't impose on anyone. Plus, I tend to be grumpy and frumpy during those times and it totally ruins the entire facade of The Perfect Person I work so hard to maintain. HAHA (That was a joke!)
I have a love/hate relationship with my computer, car, appliances, etc. I sometimes often find myself where I can’t figure out or dig myself out of (like the current crash on my other computer or the printer that keeps jamming, or the front headlight that isn’t working, or the motor on the aquarium pump that just died, or the fill-in-the-blank)so let’s just say…
COMPUTER, HANDYMAN/WOMAN, MECHANIC, TROUBLESHOOTING SKILLS ARE BIG HUGE PLUSES!
I do need someone who can help me out a bit with things such as mowing the lawn & minor yard maintenance, cut & carry firewood, take out trash/recycling/yard waste, minor handyman stuff, etc. There is a voluntary “Honey Do” list in case you get bored and need something really exciting to do or want to persuade me to bake your favorite cookies or meal for you :-)
NEIGHBORHOOD: Street Parking in front of house. Diverse and friendly neighbors. There is a sports field at the end of the street at the corner of S.137th St & 32nd Ave S. Close to bus stops, grocery stores, library, indoor pool, airport, Mall, and lots of restaurants. Brief walk to the new Light Rail station!
Well, your drink should be gone by now, so if this interests and describes you and you haven't fallen asleep or passed out yet, please send me an email describing yourself and a telephone number and latest time I can call. I'm a night owl and have found that not everyone is awake at midnight to talk on the phone! If it looks like we are all a good match I will contact you so we can meet, show you the house, and chat a bit more. Photos provided upon request.
Ciao! Karen, Zenna, and Sparky
*Small dog only (max 20 lbs) in downstairs bedroom only. Do not ask to bring a bigger dog, more than one dog, or a cat. Also, do not ask to bring a goat, a monkey, a piranha, or a tarantula. You think I'm kidding? People have actually asked in the past!
