LA Roommate Add - Final/All Post
My name is Kirk. I am relatively new to the Los Angeles area and after 6 months of navigating the city daily I still get lost just trying to find the nearest coffee shop. There is much about this city that I find foriegn and confusing, but I'm happy to say that my home in Alhambra isn't one of those things. Infact, I would go so far to say that thia house is the first one that I have ever truly called "home". Come by and check it out when you can and you'll see what I mean. Perhaps you too will feel the comfort of the structure and serenity that the little town of Alhambra has to offer.
I was fortunate enough to score a pretty sweet split level 2bd, 1 ba 1400 sq ft Victorian house. In my opinion Alhambra is the best and certainly the cutest of all the surrounding towns in the San Gabriel Valley and even the entire LA region. I fell in love with the place the minute I set eyes on it. The house has been organized, finishing touches placed and I am now ready to take on a roommate.
To give you some perspective on how I view a roomshare arrangement; I look at it as much more then a financial agreement. A room share is a TEAM effort and kinda has to be. I mean ... We're sharing a house not renting a hotel room, or a bed in a hostel. Its two people working together using shared recources toward goals both independent and mutual. In other words, it's like a shot-gun wedding for a pre-arranged marriage. We have to hit the ground running and adapt quickly. The only rule in my house is compromise. I try to think of the needs of others before my own. Following that simple rule of thumb I have never had even one negative roommate experience in all of the last 15 years and 10 or so roomates in just as many cities across the country. When I choose to let another into my home I don't do it half way. So welcome to my home, I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
A little about myself: I have a little beagle dog named Gizmo. I love the shit outta this dog. He's my little buddy and I take him with me everywhere I go. He too could use a roommate buddy, so your pets are certainly welcome here. I like travel and do it often. Anywhere and everywhere. I hardly even need a reason. A couple of weeks ago I drove all the way up to SF non-stop cause they got this pizza place I like. A bit far to go for a pizza I will admit, but seriously ... you GOTTA try this pizza 😉.
I work as an attorney and also own a concession cart and enjoy selling food at fairs and festivals. I'm a people person, I pride myself on my ability to entertain people from close friends to complete strangers with tales from my life and make friends where ever I go that I keep for life. This is also true of my roommates from years past. I am still close friends with them all.
The house that I have and area in Alhambra in which I live are truly priceless. The neighborhood is adorable with folks that walk their dog at night and wave hi to every person they see. The neighbors all know each other by name and watch out for whole of the area. To the point that, not only do I not lock my doors here, I don't even shut them most days. The place is too cute, like something out of a 50s sitcom. The house too is incredible. It has a front yard and back with a wrap around porch so big I was able to fit a whole living room set onto it. The rooms are sizable and well designed with giant wall mirrors that open it up even more. Which is good cause I got alot of furniture and stuff. Lke ... ALOT of stuff. I could furnish your room 10 times over and we would likely still have enough crap left over to open a furnature store. The front room has a full sized bar, new couches and an audio/video system that is like being inside of an ampatheater. The center room has a pool table and soda fridge, kitchen's got marble counter tops, new appliances, all the cookware a person could want, and cookie ovens. I picked those up for my concession cart, but thought they just looked too cute in my kitchen (you can see them in the attached pics). The bathroom is finished in oak and is large enough that I put an entire bookshelf in there with room to spare. Both bedrooms are about 14ft X 12ft square with walk-in closets. Room comes furnished or unfurnished, your choice. The place is stocked with Wifi, washer/dryer, parking in the front and back, a garage and a car park, storage too. I've even got the whole house on an X10 automation system. The nearest metro stop is 1.2 miles north of the house, the nearest bus stop is 1.1 miles south. And the nearest park-and-ride is 2 blocks east.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and my home. I am happy to answer your questions any time.
